Azienda Sanitaria Locale Roma 1 – Department of Epidemiology (DEASL)
The Azienda Sanitaria Locale Roma 1 (ASL Roma 1) is one of the largest local health authorities in Italy, responsible for delivering healthcare services to a large population in the metropolitan area of Rome. The organization provides a wide range of medical, preventive, and public health services through hospitals, community healthcare facilities, and specialized units.
Within ASL Roma 1 operates the Department of Epidemiology of the Lazio Regional Health Service, a leading research and public health institution focusing on epidemiology, health surveillance, and health impact assessment. The department conducts research on environmental health, climate-related risks, and public health policies, and contributes to national and international research initiatives aimed at improving population health and health system performance.
Role in the Project
Within the ISMED-CLIM project, the Department of Epidemiology of ASL Roma 1 contributes expertise in epidemiological research, public health analysis, and health impact assessment.
The institution supports the analysis of climate-related health risks and contributes to research examining the relationships between environmental stressors and health outcomes across Mediterranean populations. In addition, the department participates in activities aimed at strengthening healthcare system preparedness and resilience to climate change, including the evaluation and replication of climate resilience tools and policy recommendations for healthcare systems.
Through its expertise in population health research and environmental epidemiology, ASL Roma 1 helps ensure that the project’s scientific findings translate into evidence-based public health policies and practical solutions for improving climate resilience in healthcare systems.
