Municipality of Trikala
Municipality of Trikala through the Trikala 2030 initiative promotes the city’s strategy for sustainable development and climate neutrality. The initiative represents the Municipality’s long-term commitment to transforming Trikala into a climate-neutral, smart, and sustainable city by 2030, in line with the European Union Mission for Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities.
Through the Trikala 2030 framework, the municipality develops policies and projects focused on energy efficiency, sustainable mobility, renewable energy deployment, smart city technologies, circular economy practices, and nature-based solutions. The initiative also encourages strong participation from citizens, businesses, and local organizations in shaping climate and sustainability policies and actions.
Role in the Project
Within the ISMED-CLIM project, the Municipality of Trikala participates as a local authority and Living Lab implementation partner.
The municipality supports the implementation of project activities related to vulnerable population groups, particularly outdoor workers, by facilitating access to local communities and municipal workers. Through its involvement, Trikala contributes to the testing and evaluation of climate-health interventions, including early warning systems and exposure-reduction strategies aimed at mitigating the health impacts of extreme heat and air pollution.
In addition, the municipality contributes to stakeholder engagement and local policy development, ensuring that the solutions developed within the project can be effectively integrated into local governance and replicated in other Mediterranean cities.
