National and Kapodistrian University of Athens
The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, commonly referred to as the University of Athens (UoA), is the oldest higher education institution in the modern Greek state, founded in 1837. Located in Athens, Greece, it is one of the largest universities in Europe, with more than 100,000 registered students across a wide range of disciplines.
The university is a major research hub in Greece, collaborating with numerous national research institutes and hospitals across the Athens metropolitan area. Role in the Project
Within the ISMED-CLIM project, NKUA contributes clinical and public health expertise through its collaboration with Alexandra University Hospital.
The institution participates in activities aimed at strengthening healthcare system preparedness and resilience to climate change. In particular, NKUA contributes to the replication and evaluation of climate resilience tools for healthcare systems and supports research activities assessing the health impacts of climate-related stressors across Mediterranean regions. Through its clinical and research capacity, the university helps translate scientific evidence into practical solutions for healthcare professionals and policy makers.
