Pancyprian Federation of Labour

The Pancyprian Federation of Labour (PEO) is one of the largest and most influential trade union confederations in Cyprus, representing workers across multiple sectors and advocating for labour rights, social protection, and equitable working conditions. Founded in 1941 and headquartered in Nicosia, the federation plays an important role in collective bargaining, social dialogue, and the development of labour and social policies in the country.

Within the federation operates the Union of Cypriot Pensioners (EKYSY), established in 1973 to represent retired citizens and protect the social and economic rights of older people in Cyprus. EKYSY advocates for improved pension policies, social benefits, and better living conditions for elderly populations while actively engaging its members through assemblies, policy discussions, and awareness activities across the country.

Role in the Project

Within the ISMED-CLIM project, Pancyprian Federation of Labour contributes as a key civil society partner representing vulnerable population groups, particularly older adults. Through its strong network of members and social outreach activities, the organization supports stakeholder engagement, awareness raising, and the dissemination of project activities among citizens and communities.

Pancyprian Federation of Labour also contributes to participatory activities within the project, helping to ensure that the perspectives and needs of elderly populations are reflected in the design and evaluation of climate-related health interventions. In particular, the organization supports Living Lab activities targeting vulnerable groups and contributes to the co-creation and validation of recommendations and solutions aimed at reducing climate-related health risks and improving resilience in Mediterranean communities.
